Reggie Bush Injury Gives Ladell Betts Roster Spot, Pierre Thomas Snaps
It is The Week of the Running Back in the NFC South. [link widoczny dla zalogowanych]of the Falcons is out for the season, Jason Snelling emerges in his place. Reggie Bush disappears, and Ladell Betts reappears.
On top of that,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], Cadillac Williams of the Bucs is a certified workhorse again.
The big news is Bush's broken right leg. He was injured in the Monday night win over the 49ers. The Saints signed veteran running back Betts on Wednesday to provide some backup to Pierre Thomas, whose workload just heavier.
Betts, 31, is an inside runner who made his stake in the NFL with the Washington Redskins. He will team with rookie Chris Ivory to back up Thomas. Heath Evans remains the fullback.
Certainly, the Saints will not find anyone to replace what Bush gave them, which was a threat in the red zone on draws and short passes. Bush could also be a spectacular return man.
New Orleans waived running back DeShawn Wynn to bring in Betts. It will be interesting to see what happens with Ivory. He was impressive in the preseason, but he has yet to have a carry or catch a pass.
Betts, meanwhile, has more than 3,000 career rushing yards and more than 1,500 receiving yards.
Bush is expected to miss six weeks.
