However, the Bees hit straight back with a fine ride from Przemyslaw Pawlicki, who restored their 12-point lead by finishing first in heat two, the first of 16 points for him on the night.

Another 5-1 followed in heat 14 – Barker finishing second – and [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] also finished in the final heat as the Bees finished in style with three 5-1 heat wins in the last three races.
[link widoczny dla zalogowanych] came out for heat 13 with Kasprzak and they made a great start to gain the advantage. It was one they never relinquished as the Cornishman followed his team-mate home to clinch the crown with two heats remaining.
It was an amazing achievement for the Bees, who were second from bottom of the Elite League as recently as August 12. But some shrewd signings by manager Alun Rossiter and a return to form saw the Bees finish the season well and ultimately overcome the Pirates, who were runaway league champions and finished 26 points ahead of the Bees.
The bruised Cornishman had no time to celebrate as he was out again in the next heat along with Pawlicki,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], who came in for Barker. Both were rider replacements and the tactical move paid off as the Bees – led by the inspirational [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] – won 5-1.
In a dramatic re-run, the lead exchanged between [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] and Holder on three occasions before [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] won a quite brilliant race. Unfortunately for the Bees, Bridger was last and it finished 3-3.
The deficit was down to six points after just four heats and the Bees needed some respite. That was provided by Krzysztof Kasprzak and Richard Sweetman, who came first and third for a 4-2 heat win.

[link widoczny dla zalogowanych] was back at the tapes in heat six, but he was involved in a horrific looking accident on the first bend. After a worrying delay, the Cornishman got to his feet and returned to the pits and took part in the re-run, which incredibly involved all four riders. Chris Holder was lucky to avoid expulsion for being the cause of the crash.
That meant with only five heats to go, the Bees had levelled it up at 30-30 on the night and were 12 points ahead on aggregate. The title was within sight, especially after heat 11 finished as a 3-3.
Any sort of heat advantage would almost certainly secure the title for the Bees and Barker took to the tapes in heat 12. But he again came last as Poole picked up a 4-2 with Jason Doyle picking up three points.
Poole went into the meeting trailing by 12 points after last week's first leg, but cut that down to ten after the first heat, which was won by World Under-21 champion Darcy Ward.
[link widoczny dla zalogowanych] made his first outing in heat four and the Great Britain Grand Prix star came off on the second lap. He was excluded for the re-run and the Bees needed Pawlicki to race well, which he did, before being pipped by Davey Watt on the line in a thrilling race.
"It is a shame we lost Eddie [Kennett, through injury], but he was here to spur us on. Everyone played a part this season and especially the fans as well. As I say, I'm feeling quite sore, but I'll worry about that tomorrow. The team have been fantastic from start to finish tonight."
[link widoczny dla zalogowanych] – excluded in his first race – came off when leading in his second ride and team-mate Lewis Bridger could not lay his bike down in time and rode straight over his prostrate colleague.
Bridger finished third – he was rider replacement for Kennett – and he was in action again in heat three finishing last as the Pirates won 5-1, Cornishman Ben Barker picking up the Bees' point.
Heat seven ended in a 5-1 Poole victory before Pawlicki and Sweetman steadied the ship with a fine 4-2 in heat eight to restore the Bees' lead to six and Coventry picked up another 4-2 when [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] overtook Bjarne Pedersen on the last bend for another sensational heat win.
"I feel sore, but I feel privileged and honoured to lead these boys this year," [link widoczny dla zalogowanych] said. "It has been a tough one, but the team spirit has been fantastic and I have enjoyed riding with all of them.
[link widoczny dla zalogowanych] overcame a nasty accident to inspire Coventry Bees to the Elite League Grand Final on a sensational night of speedway at Poole Pirates.
But the durable Cornishman got to his feet and incredibly won the re-run to kick-start the Bees' challenge and lead them to a third Elite League title, winning 50-40 on the night and by 22 points on aggregate.
