The French trade deficit widened to 4.93 billion euros (6.88 billion U.S. dollars) in August 2010 on imports growth from 4.42 billion euros (6.18 billion dollars) a month earlier, official figures showed on Thursday.
For the past 12 months,Wedding dresses, the cumulated trade deficit already climbed to 48.6 billion euros (68 billion dollars) in total, according to data issued by the customs services
"Summer did not interrupt the growth exchanges. industrial's sales and purchases are approaching their pre-crisis level. Imports were more dynamic so that the deficit widened," French customs said in a statement.
The country's total imports grew by 2.4 percent to 39 billion euros (54.5 billion dollars) which pulled higher by growing local demand of manufacturing products and farming goods.
In August, car manufacturing business drove higher French sales abroad by 1.2 percent from July to 34 billion euros (47.6 billion dollars) while the key aeronautic sector -- orders of Airbus,Tiffany, France's key aeronautic group, were worth 1.13 billion euros (1.58 billion dollars) down from 2 billion euros (2.8 billion dollars) in the previous month.
France's exports to the European bloc jumped by 62.1 percent on year-on-year basis thanks to growing German demand of chemical and pharmaceutical products.
