QB Vince Young will make his first start of the season against the Jaguars. (John Russell / Associated Press),[link widoczny dla zalogowanych]
Texans WR Andre Johnson (lung contusion) will be active and start against the Bills, according to the team’s official website. Johnson, who is listed as probable,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], is obviously a must-start wideout in all formats. Downgrade WRs Kevin Walter and Andre Davis accordingly. Lions WR Calvin Johnson (knee) was limited in Friday’s practice and could be a “full-blown game-time decision” according to MLive.com. Fantasy owners need to prepare for the week like Megatron will be inactive. WRs Bryant Johnson and Dennis Northcutt will have added value if Johnson is in fact inactive. Eagles RB Brian Westbrook (concussion) missed Friday’s practice and is expected to be a game-time decision to face the Giants. Fantasy owners should expect RB LeSean McCoy to start and consider Westbrook a long shot to be active. The rookie would be a viable No. 2 fantasy back or flex starter. Newsday is reporting that Giants WR Hakeem Nicks lined up with the first-team offense during the Friday’s walkthrough portion of practice. WR Mario Manningham (shoulder) is questionable to face the Eagles, but Nicks could be moving up the depth chart regardless. He’s a borderline No. 2 or 3 fantasy option this week. Cardinals WR Anquan Boldin (ankle) was limited in Friday’s practice, according to the team’s official website. Coach Ken Whisenhunt did say that Boldin looked better, however, so it looks like he’ll start against the Panthers. Be sure to monitor his status at game time. 49ers RB Frank Gore is tough to reserve in most leagues, especially with six teams on a bye this week. But with OT Tony Pashos (shoulder) done for the season and Colts DB Bob Sanders back in action,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], Gore could struggle in Week 8. Keep that in mind if you have backfield depth. Colts WR Reggie Wayne (groin) took part in Friday’s practice and is expected to start against the 49ers. That’s great news for fantasy owners who’ve leaned on the veteran wideout. With WR Anthony Gonzalez unlikely to play,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], WR Austin Collie will remain a viable fantasy starter. Titans QB Vince Young will make his first start of the season,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], facing the Jaguars’ 31st-ranked pass defense. While the matchup is terrific on paper, it’s hard to trust Young as a fantasy option unless you’re in a deeper league or need to start two quarterbacks. Use him with caution. Jets WR Jerricho Cotchery (hamstring) is listed as questionable to face the Dolphins,[link widoczny dla zalogowanych], but coach Rex Ryan expects him to play. Miami is dealing with some injuries to its defensive backfield, but Cotchery is still no more than a risky No. 3 fantasy wideout. The St. Louis Post-Dispatch reports Rams WR Donnie Avery (hamstring) was limited in Friday’s practice but is listed as probable for Week 8. With a matchup against the Lions on tap, Avery has value as a potential No. 3 fantasy wideout or flex starter across the board.
