Dwight Freeney didn't have quite the game in his second trip to Philadelphia as he did in his first.
Eagles tight end Brent Celek Jersey thinks he knows why.
Freeney, the Indianapolis Colts' five-time Pro Bowl defensive end, did not register a sack in the Colts' 26-24 loss at Philadelphia Sunday, and Brent Celek Jersey said the Eagles' chipping and double teams helped frustrate one of the NFL's elite pass rushers.
"You can tell,NBA Jerseys," Brent Celek Jersey told Daily News Live on 97.5 FM in Philadelphia. "I even talked to my coach about it today. When we were chipping and blocking Freeney, it was getting to the point where he was ready to give up on the field. He was so frustrated and mad.
"You could tell after a few guys hit him, he would just kind of quit on a play."
Brent Celek Jersey stayed in to chip and help left tackle Jason Peters with Freeney, who registered two sacks and a forced fumble in a victory over Houston the previous Monday. Freeney also was the AFC Defensive Player of the Week after the Houston performance.
This is an interesting perspective, at best. Freeney typically is a maximum effort guy, and to say he was frustrated by double teams and chips is one thing. A lot of elite defensive ends get frustrated at the schemes and extra blockers utilized to stop them.
To say Freeney quit is pretty out of character for a player who has made five Pro Bowls and is generally considered one of the best pass rushers of his era.
Sunday's game was Freeney's second in Philadelphia. He made his first NFL start at old Veterans Stadium in 2002, registering a sack and three forced fumbles in a 35-13 Colts victory.
