Falcons’ Jason Snelling named NFC offensive player of the week
Falcons’ backup running back Jason Snelling’s 129 rushing yards on 24 carries and two touchdowns against the Cardinals last Sunday earned him NFC Offensive Player of the Week honors for last week. He also caught five balls for 57 yards and a touchdown.
Snelling’s fellow running backs Michael Turner (groin) and Jerious Norwood Jersey (knee) both left the game with injuries,NHL Jerseys, leaving Snelling with the bulk of the carries. Jerious Norwood Jerseyhas since been placed on injured reserve, while Turner seems to be making progress.
“Every week I prepare myself like I’m going to be the starter,” said Snelling. “I work hard to be my best, and when an opportunity comes, I like to do my best.”
Snelling’s work last Sunday came in the Falcons’ 41-7 rout of the visiting Cardinals as the team improved to 1-1 on the young season.
“It’s more of an honor for our team for a guy to get an individual award like that,” said Snelling. “It’s a big team effort, so I’m real proud to be able to go out there and do what I did to help our team win, which is the most important thing.”
The Falcons look to improve to 2-1 when they travel to New Orleans this Sunday to face the defending Super Bowl champion Saints. Kickoff is 1 p.m. EDT. |
